Preserving and transforming existing buildings is one of the most exciting challenges of our time. In this respect, the expert procedure for the revitalization of a Thyssen-Krupp industrial wasteland in Cologne-Ehrenfeld was an important contribution to this changing district. The "LICHTWERK-WEST" is a forward-looking design that revitalizes the historic industrial buildings and transforms them into contemporary working environments. The aim is to achieve sustainable urban development that exploits the transformation potential and reactivates public accessibility. Our design - which continues the character and charm of Ehrenfeld - impresses with its clear statement on the industrial past in a concisely defined interplay of old and new with contemporary, user-oriented and liveable architecture.
